Singapore

US college admissions consulting in Singapore.

We work with families at Singapore's international and local schools, on applications to the United States and the United Kingdom. The team is led by former admission officers from Harvard and Princeton.

Strong grades are the baseline here

Singapore produces academically excellent applicants in volume. An IB score in the forties or a clean set of A-level predictions is remarkable anywhere else and ordinary in this applicant pool. American committees know the system well enough to read it accurately, which means the transcript establishes that a student is qualified and then stops helping.

The schools are well known to American committees. Singapore American School, UWC South East Asia, Tanglin Trust, Dulwich College and SJI International send applicants every year, as do Raffles Institution, Hwa Chong Institution and Anglo-Chinese School. An officer reading a file from any of them already knows roughly what the grades mean, which removes the transcript as a point of difference rather than adding one.

What moves a file after that is evidence of something built, and built early enough to have produced a result by the time the application is written. That is the work, and it needs to start in Year 10 or 11 rather than the summer before applications.

The US and UK applications pull in opposite directions

Most Singapore families run both. UCAS asks for a single subject-focused personal statement and reads it as an academic argument. American universities ask for a personal essay and several supplements, and read for character and shape as much as achievement.

They also run on different clocks, with Oxford and Cambridge closing in mid-October and US early rounds in November. Both calendars are planned at the outset.

National Service and the gap year

For Singaporean male students, National Service changes the planning entirely. Most American universities will defer an offer for the duration, but the deferral has to be requested correctly and the application itself is strongest when it is completed before enlistment rather than during it.

The practical consequence is that the timeline compresses. We work backwards from enlistment rather than from the application deadline.

What an engagement includes

Families work with us on a single end-to-end package rather than buying hours. One team, one plan, from the first strategy session through to the acceptance letter.

  • Strategy and school list built around early-round positioning.
  • Personal statement and supplements, developed with former admission officers.
  • The Hook Program, in which a student builds an original project with real users or real recognition.
  • Independent academic research with a Ph.D. or professor, published in an academic journal.
  • Summer programs and internships drawn from our own database and partner companies.
  • Admissions Roundtable review before the application is submitted.

Pricing sits in two tiers, Standard and Premium, each quoted after a private consultation. See how the tiers differ, or read how we work.

Where else we work
